History of the Family from their lowland Scotland roots in Galloway circa 1850 onwards. This narrative will detail the marriage of David Galloway to Mary, their dozen year expedition to Canada and subsequent return to Scotland, circa 1886. This book places the family in Huntley twp near Ottawa, in the years 1873 through 1878 and their subsequent move to Iroquois village on the banks of the Saint Lawrence river.

William Galloway, 1875 to 1947, was a stonemason, builder, entrepreneur. At age 12 he left his Glasgow based family and sailed to Valparaiso. Not long after, he spent over four years in South Africa before the Boer War, returning to Glasgow to qualify as an architect. After that, he spent many years in Ghana.

With much of the family history unknown for the nineteenth century, it would be fun to write a novel paralleling my family's life. The events would be fiction but they would be woven into the plaid of what I do know. It would allow guesses concerning the lifestyle of my family, the customs and mores in vogue for those times.

I want to write a novel about a junior professor (university lecturer to the British) who uncovers some strange events in his department. There will be intrigue, and forbidden romance, fall from grace and heartbreak, a career ruined. Does Fraser go back with his estranged wife, or does he take up with the demure young student of Italian ancestry? What connection does she have to the sinister dealings in his department?
