| Family Ancestors | Descendants from Paternal great great GrandFather | My Mother's side | I have documented my ancestors for 4 and more generations. Some of them are Galloway from Galloway in Scotland, towns like Kirkmaiden, Port Patrick and Port Logan. My paternal GrandMother, Catherine Bruce, was from Caithness (Bower). Stanstill farm where she was born, and where her Father was the grieve, still exists today. My paternal Grandfather was one of eight children, several of whom were born in Canada. I have all of their birth records. My Mother's family were mostly from the greater Glasgow area.

My gr.gr.Grandfather, William Galloway had a son David. They settled at first in Huntley adjacent to Nepean, where they had 3 more children, my grandfather William Galloway among them. They then moved to Iroquois in about 1879/80 and eventually the family returned to Scotland, circa 1886. GrandFather William was a world traveller, having been born in Canada. He spent considerable time in Ghana. There is a William Galloway Memorial temple on the Liberia Road in Accra, just North of the Novotel building.. One of his sons, my Father, also emigrated to South Africa. Myself, Wullie, born in South Africa, I returned to the country where my grandfather William had been born, Canada.

My ancestry on my Mother's side includes the names Baird, Rae, and Whyte. I have much of it documented, and know that the Whyte family were Glasgow based photographers when photography was still in its infancy. See Glasgow Observed by Simon Berry & Hamish Whyte, ISBN 0 85976 189 4. The photography store was at one time located at 20 Argyll street in Glasgow, before a fire destroyed the premises. They did rebuild the business, but they did not have insurance, so those were hard times.

The Association of Personal Historians is dedicated to helping people
preserve their history. They produced an excellent cd of me telling a
story about going down a gold mine at age 8, which I now have for my
children and grandchildren to hear. Let them help you tell your stories
too.
